Help & FAQ
Everything you need to play, watch, and take part.
Getting started
What is POLARITY?
Live, interactive game shows where you actually play — race the buzzer, read the crowd, climb the beam, and crack the signal against players anywhere, hosted live by @POLARITYJOSH. Anyone can watch; sign in to play.
Do I need an account?
Only to play. You can watch any live show and read every game's rules without signing in. To buzz, answer, vote, or wager, sign in and pick a username.
How do I sign in?
Tap Sign in (top-right)Tap the round profile button at the top right and continue with Google, with Apple, or with your email address and a password. To make an email account, choose Continue with email, then New here? Create an account. We'll email you a link to confirm the address — open it, come back and tap I've verified. You can't pick a username or play until the address is confirmed, and an account left unconfirmed for 48 hours is deleted. On your first sign-in you'll choose a public username.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen choose Continue with email, type your email address, and tap Forgot password?. If that address has a POLARITY password, a reset link arrives by email — check your spam folder too. Signed in with Google or Apple? You have no POLARITY password; use that button again.
Can I switch from Google or Apple to email and a password (or the other way)?
Yes. Open Sign-in methods on your profile.Open Settings › Sign-in methods. Add the new method first, then remove the old one. Your account keeps its username and history. The last method on an account can't be removed. If you used Sign in with Apple and hid your email, add a real email address there first; we'll send it a confirmation link.
How do usernames work?
Pick a unique handle (3–20 characters: letters, numbers, underscores). It's how you show up on the buzzer and the leaderboard. Names are moderated — no impersonation, hate, or obscenity. You can change it later from your profilein Settings › Username.
Playing a game
How do I join a live game?
When a show is live, it appears under Live now on the home page. Sign in, then tap Join game on its card. When a show is live, the Home tab turns into its card. Tap Join game (before the start it says Take your seat). If the game is set to "select players," the host has to add you first.
How does buzzing work (Signal Grid)?
When the host opens the buzzers, hit BUZZ as fast as you can. We measure your reaction from the moment your screen shows the buzzers open — so your connection speed doesn't decide the winner.
What are lifelines / "Ask the Hive" (Tractor Beam)?
When the contestant calls the crowd lifeline, every signed-in viewer gets to vote on the answer. Tap your pick — it glows — and the live tally helps the contestant decide.
How does the Final round work (Signal Grid)?
You lock a wager, then the clue appears and you draw your answer right on your phone or with your mouse. The host reviews everyone's drawing and wager and scores them.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes — everything works in a mobile browser, and you can install POLARITY to your home screen (look for the install prompt, or use your browser's "Add to Home Screen").
Surveys (Hive Mind)
What are surveys?
Quick crowd questions that become the board for the Hive Mind game. Answer the open ones on the home page or the surveys pageon the website, polaritylive.com — on its home page or its surveys page — the most popular answers score the most points when two teams face off.
Why did a survey disappear from my list?
Once you answer a survey it drops off your list — you get one answer each. If something went wrong, a host can release it so you can redo it.
Your account & privacy
How do I change my username or avatar?
Head to your profile. You can change your username, pick an avatar, set your region and time zone, and see your stats.Settings › Username changes your username and Settings › Your look changes your avatar. Your stats are on your profile — the round button at the top right. Region and time zone are changed on your profile on the website, polaritylive.com.
How do I delete my account?
From your profile, choose delete account.Tap the round profile button at the top right, then Delete account at the bottom. An email-and-password account types its password to confirm. It deletes your profile and your sign-in account and signs you out. Your username is retired rather than freed — it stays yours and nobody else can take it. The screen lists what is deleted and what is kept; see the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I report or block a player?
Report: open the player's profile (tap their name on the leaderboard or in the archive) and choose Report, or, before a show, tap ⋯ next to their name in the waiting room.tap ⋯ on their row in Rankings or next to their name in a game's waiting room, or go to Settings › Report a player and type their username. Pick a reason and add a note if you like. Staff review every report and aim to act within 24 hours, and the player is not told who reported them. A report about POLARITY's owner account can't be sent this way; email it to legal@polaritylive.com.
Block: from the same places, choose Block. Their name and picture are then hidden from you in the waiting room, on their profile, on leaderboards and rankings, and in the show archive, where they show as "Blocked player". Blocking only hides them for you — it doesn't remove them from a show you're both in, because the live board is the same for everyone in the room — so the Block sheet offers to send staff a report too. Unblock anyone from your profilein Settings › Blocked players. You can also email support@polaritylive.com.
Can I turn off the animations?
POLARITY doesn't animate, except a few game moments: the Orbit wheel, its split-flap letters and power needle, the Hive Mind answer flip, and the No Greys light. Turn on Reduce motion on your profilein Settings and they land at once instead of moving. Your device's own reduced-motion setting does the same.
Is my data private?
Your username, avatar, and scores are public (it's a game show). Your email is never shown. We don't sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
